On an afternoon when the rain poured down elsewhere in Surrey and the Saturday 2nd XI match at Brook was called off without a ball being bowled, the Saturday 1st XI were fortunate to get a full game in.
Batting first, Brook were off to a good start with Toby Pheasant (53) and Adam Thomas (49) building a solid platform. Nick Jackman continued the good work and all of the middle order contributed. A score just over 200 seemed a little light but in fact kept the Blackheath batsmen interested right the way through their innings until the eighth wicket fell to the first ball of the last over.
Neil Cooper continued his fine form with the ball and Jon King also picked up a couple of wickets with Oli Eccles taking one. Some sharp fielding also contributed two run outs.
As Club President John Denney commented: 'A well deserved winning draw'.
