With John Hamilton failing a very late fitness test, the batting was distinctly weakened against a very steady Nomads bowling attack in which
M Singh bowled his eight overs straight through for the impressive figures of 8 4 13 4, a spell which set the Sunday XI on the back foot with an uphill battle to post a competitive score. But battle they did, Will Owen (23) leading the way after some crisp shots from Rhodri Williams (20) and a watchful 11 from Jeff Soar and with good support from Nick Owen (16), Lee Soar (12), John Pheasant (15) and Charlie Morgan (3*).
115 was probably 25 runs short of a competitive total against this opposition but Rhodri Williams (8 1 16 4) bowled with pace and hit the timber four times to keep the home side in the match. With Rhodri then taking a very good catch at deep midwicket off the bowling of Will Owen
(4 0 23 1), skipper Alex Serrano, who bowled well (5 0 28 0) but with no luck, urged his side on to snatch victory. But lofted shots either did not quite go to hand or were hit with great force and the Nomads duly secured a well earned victory.
The Nomads joined us in the D&P after the match and clearly enjoyed their day. We hope this will become a regular fixture.
